The steps you take during harvest and postharvest handling can have a significant impact on the shelf-life and safety of your produce. In this engaging workshop, you will learn about harvest and postharvest activities that impact product quality and actions you can take to minimize food safety risks in the packhouse. Utilizing activities and discussion, we will cover each of the following topics.

Instructor: Sara Runkel, Local Produce Safety Coordinator, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association
Before joining Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, Sara worked as an extension agent for NC Cooperative Extension and as an assistant professor of practice in horticulture with Oregon State University Extension. She also managed a new farmer training and business incubator program in Pennsylvania and has more than 15 years of diversified farming experience in Pennsylvania, Oregon, and North Carolina.
